About Me
Where It All Started...
November 2014
Growing up I always wanted to become a Journalist, at 15 I had my first taste of experience, during a weeks placement with the Tyrone Constitution in Omagh, County Tyrone. The week sparked a desire to be a journalist, and also saw my first ever article published in a newspaper.

At High School I had always been interested in politics and current affairs.
I was one of two students from my school picked to take part in the 'Living Law Programme' allowing me to meet the Attorney General of Northern Ireland John Larkin, barristers and solicitors, visit Stormont to meet MLAs, and take part in mock trials.

But it was journalism rather than law that I chose to pursue.

Heading to University...
September 2018
My next step was to head back to Cardiff and join the Journalism course at the University of South Wales.

During my time at Uni, I learnt and developed a wide range of skills, including broadcast and print journalism, media law, ethics and regulations, and of course how to make contacts.

The course features 'Live Newsdays' which were the best way to learn. During them we produced hour long radio news programmes, and 15 minute TV programmes, as well as running our own website and social media accounts.
I was also part of the team which won the BJTC award for the best TV Newsday in 2019, and Best Virtual TV Newsday in 2020.

I finished my three years at University, by graduating with a First.

Gaining Experience...
January 2019 - Present
Since graduating, I have focused heavily on getting as much professional experience in the industry as possible, as real life experience is crucial, especially in journalism and the media.

My work experience and freelance work which you will read more about on this website, includes the BBC, Sky News, Global and Bro Radio.

All four have been massively important in giving me an insight into what real life newsrooms are like, but also the skills required to work in one.

I have spent the past two years at BBC Radio Wales, firstly freelancing, but now as a full time member of staff, producing programmes and news reading.
